PORTHMADOG Football Club has secured a funding package of over £130,000 to build an extension to its current clubhouse to create a new training centre.
The football club, which has been blighted by flooding over the winter period, has welcomed the funding and will develop the extension into a skills and training centre for the people of the area.
Discussions with local and regional training providers are now ongoing to ensure the facility will be fully utilised once it opens in August this year.
The funding has been provided by the Welsh Government’s Aggregate Levy Fund and the Magnox Socio-economic Scheme, financed by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Welsh Government Natural Resources Minister, Carl Sargeant announced a funding package of £419,953 for six community projects this month which included Porthmadog Football Club, who will receive £131,000.
Porthmadog Club chairman Phil Jones said that they were very grateful to both organisations for their faith and support.
