A bid to build a “huge” balcony on an “iconic” home overlooking a popular Llyn beach has been refused.

The plan for Bwthyn Bridyn at Morfa Nefyn, which is often featured on TV and postcards, was turned down by Gwynedd planning committee, despite a recommendation for approval from officers.

Local member Cllr Gareth Jones said: “The balcony is huge and is within four or five steps to a popular beach where many locals gather to bathe, sunbathe and enjoy the views.

“This is one of the busiest spots on the beach and would represent over-development in an area of outstanding beauty. It’s a sensitive area and famous to visitors and a cause of pride for locals.”
