Just one housing scheme is completed for every nine developments that are still outstanding in Ceredigion, figures have shown.
Ceredigion County Council’s Local Development Plan monitoring report shows that the ratio between completion of developments compared to outstanding consents is currently one to every nine outstanding consents, above the authority’s target ratio of 6.5, but a major improvement on the 2018 ratio of 14.
It also highlights how the council is unlikely to meet its target of providing 1,100 affordable homes by 2022, despite Ceredigion being one of the best performing authorities in terms of the percentage of all housing developments that are classed as affordable homes, with the figures showing that 27 per cent of all residential development since the LDP was brought in have been affordable homes. The council’s target was 20 per cent.
The monitoring report said that while progress was being made, that was not quick enough in some areas of the LDP housing indicators.
It says: “In regard to the LDP housing indicators, this year’s monitoring report continues to show some positive movements towards identified targets for some indicators, however the rate of progress is not as fast as anticipated and concern remains that the plan period targets will not be achieved by 2022.
“Other housing indicators highlight the need for further investigation and new and emerging evidence which is informing the LDP review.
“In regard to the LDP economy and retail and quality of life indicators targets are either being met or, where they are not being met, raise no immediate concerns for polity implementation.”
