THE Snowdonia National Park Authority has given itself planning permission for alterations to the tourist information centre on Aberdyfi harbour and to change the use of part of the building into a café.
Planning officer Hugh Roberts said that the centre was in a focal point of Aberdyfi within the harbour area.
He said that the plans included bi-folding aluminium doors on the south-east elevation facing the harbour and estuary, and the plans incorporated a new café within the existing building.
Mr Roberts said that a café in the building would supplement the revenue income for the site.
“Whilst the building is located within the Aberdyfi Conservation Area, it is non-traditional in appearance and the development in my opinion would not have an adverse effect on the setting or on the character,” he said.
“The proposal has been advertised and so far there have been no adverse comments.
“However, the consultation does not close until 10 March and any decision would be subject to any comments received up to that date,” added Mr Roberts.
Snowdonia National Park Authority member David Roberts said he welcomed the development.
The committee approved the application subject to any adverse comments by the closing date of the consultation on 10 March and included a condition that the premises should not be open before 7am and had to close by 11pm, with the premises vacated by 11.10pm.
