ENGINEERS are drawing up plans for a transport interchange at Bow Street that would see a new park-and-ride service and train station in the hope that funding could be found to get the scheme up and running.
Despite missing out on a Welsh Government Local Transport Fund grant, the council was awarded almost £170,000 from transport minister Edwina Hart to look into a site and design a scheme that would be ready to submit to Ceredigion’s planning department.
The council’s Cabinet heard that the highways department is already searching for funding to be able to consider buying the necessary land and fund the necessary construction work, with local councillor Paul Hinge welcoming the progress of the scheme that he insisted would be a massive boost to the local economy across north Ceredigion.
A report from Rhodri Llwyd, the group manager for highways, said engineers were drawing up plans for a train station in discussions with Network Rail and that the Welsh Government is receiving regular updates on the progress of the scheme.
