SUNDAY summer services will be introduced between Tywyn and Pwllheli and new station buildings will be built at Blaenau Ffestiniog, the new operators of the Wales and Borders rail network have promised.
KeolisAmey, which was awarded the contract for the network by the Welsh Government last month, outlined its full plans on Monday.
As part of a £1.9 billion investment the company has promised to “invest to co-fund new station buildings at Blaenau Ffestiniog”, as well as providing “additional summer Sunday services from May 2023 between Tywyn and Pwllheli.”
Its plans also include a new hourly express service between major north Wales stations by 2025, and a pledge to “reduce walk-up and season fares to, from and within north Wales by 10 per cent to encourage travel.”
KeolisAmey, which will take over the franchise in October this year on a contract which runs until 2033, said it will “set about a series of improvements for what is a new era for passengers and for Wales with more services, newer trains, better stations and a more reliable networking.”
