CEREDIGION County Council has been reported to the Information Commissioner after over 50 confidential reports – including ones about major south Ceredigion schemes – were made public on the authority’s website by mistake.

Dozens of reports classified as containing exempt information were published on the council’s website as part of council Cabinet agendas and reports for 2004 and 2007.

Amongst the information revealed was a report claiming that a company, with the backing of supermarket giant Tesco, was interested in taking over Lampeter’s former mart site to provide a store.

There was also information about the talks over moving Lampeter’s rugby and football clubs to Llanwnnen Road to allow the North Road site where the clubs were playing to be used for an economic development scheme.

And there were personal details about grants made to individuals for medical reasons.

The information was publicly available on the council’s website on Thursday, 23 August, although it is not known how long it was available for.

It was removed by Friday, 24 August, after the Cambrian News alerted the council to it.
