GWYNEDD Council says it has outlined its ‘ambitions’ for the next five years.

Councillors have approved a plan which highlights the authority’s priorities, which are “creating the condition for a viable and prosperous economy with good jobs and salaries; ensuring that every school pupil has the opportunity to reach their potential; reduce inequality in the county; ensure a greater supply of suitable housing; encourage and promote the ability of residents to live their lives through the medium of Welsh; provide care services which help people live a dignified life as they wish; and ensure the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything the council does.”

Gwynedd Council leader Cllr Dyfrig Siencyn said: “In essence, the council plan is a straight-forward document which maps out how we intend to deliver the best possible services for the people of Gwynedd over the coming five years.

“Before agreeing on the way forward, we firstly asked all Gwynedd councillors to tell us which issues they thought needed attention. The matters they raised then formed the basis for a county-wide public consultation.

“I’m pleased that we have been able to include a series of more local priorities alongside the county-wide plans in which span the whole range of services the council provides.

“Of course, as Gwynedd residents are well aware, there is no way of ignoring the harsh cuts to council budgets imposed on us by the government.

“Despite this, we remain as determined as ever to keep our focus on delivering modern, high-quality services for the people of Gwynedd as set out in this document.”
