A ‘green industrial revolution’ by Labour would create jobs across Wales and help transform society, party leader Jeremy Corbyn said during a visit to the Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth.
Mr Corbyn visited the Centre for Alternative Technology and outlined what Labour centrally and in Wales would do to address climate emergency concerns and how it would help save homeowners money and create jobs.
But there was criticism of Mr Corbyn and Labour from Plaid Cymru’s Westminster leader Liz Saville Roberts, MP for Dwyfor Meironnydd, who said that people in Wales were “waking up to Labour’s tired, old ways”.
Speaking during his visit to CAT, Mr Corbyn praised the Welsh Government’s efforts to cut carbon emissions and make homes across Wales more energy efficient.
He said: “The next Labour government will turn the Tories’ failed approach on its head with a ‘green industrial revolution’ to tackle the climate emergency, create hundreds of thousands of good green jobs and save millions of households money on their bills.
“From the mass installation of solar panels, insulating homes, building of the Swansea Tidal Lagoon, expanding solar and wind energy and bringing the National Grid into public ownership, Labour’s Green Industrial Revolution will benefit working class people by cutting energy bills, creating good jobs in new, green industries and fighting the climate emergency.
“This task is urgent. Labour in Wales is showing the action that can be taken in government.
“Together with a Labour Government across the UK, we will go further and faster to transform our society, tackle inequality and avoid environmental destruction.”
