DWYFOR Meirionnydd MP Liz Saville Roberts says she will not let the murder of Jo Cox stop her from serving her constituents.

The tragic death of the Labour MP has led to fears for the safety of politicians across the UK.

Mrs Cox, 41, was shot and stabbed near a library in Birstall, West Yorkshire, on Thursday, 16 June as she prepared to host an advice surgery.

Mrs Saville Roberts said she was ‘shocked’ and ‘angry’ when she heard of Mrs Cox’s tragic death.

She said: “When I heard what had happened I was firstly shocked but then my second reaction was one of anger.

“There has been so much work put into getting women into Parliament and it’s such a shame that this attack happened to a woman who was someone ideal to go into politics.

"She wanted to make a difference to her community and a difference to the world.

“To see her cut down like this is a total tragedy.”

Mrs Saville Roberts said the murder of the mother of two has made her question her own security but has vowed to not let what’s happened stop her from serving her constituents.
