GWYNEDD Council has a new leader-in-waiting following last week’s local election.

Plaid Cymru Gwynedd councillors elected cllr Dyfrig Siencyn, who represents Dolgellau North, as its new leader at a meeting in Porthmadog on Monday.

Plaid Cymru Gwynedd succeeded in ensuring a majority at Gwynedd, with a total of 41 councillors, at the local election. Therefore, Plaid Cymru will continue to lead and govern Gwynedd Council during the coming five years.

“It is a pleasure and an honour to be elected Plaid Cymru Gwynedd’s group leader,” said Cllr Dyfrig Siencyn.

“It is an important role that paves the way for the immense work that is carried out by our councillors, staff, agencies, volunteers and our communities.

“Plaid Cymru has a clear vision and a huge contribution to make, not only to the future of the county, but to the future of Wales and the Welsh language.

“Our heartfelt gratitude goes to each and every candidate that has ventured into the political arena on behalf of Plaid Cymru at this local election.
