Machynlleth Town Council are searching for a new clerk after the newly appointed clerk “resigned soon after taking up the position”.

Catherine Craven, who served as a clerk for nearly ten years, took up the post of town clerk for Machynlleth Town Council on 1 October 2021. But Catherine resigned from the post shortly after.

Councillor Jeremy Paige is currently serving as the Proper Office and Responsible Financial Officer.

Cllr Paige said in November: “I am currently the Proper Officer and RFO as our newly appointed Town Clerk resigned soon after taking up the position. The issue of a replacement will be discussed in our next meeting. Until that time I am operating on a voluntary, unpaid basis.”

He added: “We will advertise for a town clerk when I return. I’m keeping away at the moment in line with Covid-19 restrictions.”
