A PETITION has called on Ceredigion County Council to stop spending millions of pounds on the services of external consultants.
It was revealed in the Cambrian News last month that the council had paid Pricewaterhouse Coopers almost £2m of taxpayers’ money, more than doubling its spend on the firm in under eight months.
At the same time, the council said it had now ended its relationship with PwC, claiming they had already realised savings “in excess of £12m” from their “partnership” with PwC.
Now, a petition, which calls on Ceredigion County Council to stop spending public funds on private consultants such as PwC, has gained 241 signatures.
The petition, which was started by Johnny Gaunt, states: “We, the undersigned, call upon Ceredigion County Council to discontinue forthwith the use of external consultants, such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers, a company implicated in tax avoidance schemes for big business.
“We oppose all use of discredited privatisation to achieve departmental savings.”
