A SHOCK YouGov projection released days before the General Election which showed the Conservatives losing its majority despite all other polls suggesting a returned Tory majority, has thrown up confusing and bizarre Ceredigion predictions.
In its seat projections, the YouGov poll suggest the Liberal Democrats are in a for a ‘likely win’ in the county with 35 per cent of the vote, Plaid Cymru on 22 per cent, Conservatives at 20 per cent and Labour at 17 per cent.
UKIP are estimated to get two per cent, with Greens on one per cent and ‘other’ on two per cent.
The ‘other’ projection is likely to be a surprise to voters as well as the only ‘other’ candidate is Sir Dudley the Crazed of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.
With such a wide margin for error in the YouGov projections - which have gone against all other polling companies which show an average nine per cent lead for the Conservatives heading into Thursday’s election - the Ceredigion result remains very unclear under the YouGov model.
Within the huge margin of error the polling company has allowed itself, the Lib Dems, Plaid, Labour and Conservatives could all win.
Astonishingly, also within the margin of error, Labour could come fifth behind the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, whose high watermark under the model is inconceivably 12 per cent.
The YouGov poll differs from several UK wide polls, where uniform swing on stated voting intentions leads to a predicted very tight Ceredigion race.
