Your article ‘Extra measures to ensure ‘safe and secure’ elections’ in last week’s Cambrian News was in the main on the safety of visiting polling stations to minimise the spreading of the coronavirus.

The article also wrote of the option to apply for a postal or proxy vote in advance of the elections.

With such crucial decisions to be made in the Senedd such as independence, I have to question the security of the postal votes compared to that of those cast in polling stations.

Ballot boxes are returned unopened from the polling stations directly to the official count whereas a postal vote involves placing the envelope in a post box without 100 per cent assurance it will be received by the addressee, so I ask if 100 per cent of postal votes do arrive directly from the post box to the official count and how can we be sure of this?
