IN aid of North West Cancer Research, secretary Meinir Davies and treasurer Alwena Price were delighted to announce that a fantastic £1,202.80 was raised by the Machynlleth and District Committee’s annual coffee morning at the local rugby club on Saturday, 7 October.
Meinir and Alwena congratulated the committee and helpers for giving so freely of their time to man the stalls, raffles, coffee, tea and cakes.
Sincere thanks also to the rugby club’s husband and wife team Elfed and Lilian Jones for all their help in preparing the room.
Chairman Geraint Jones said: “Thank you all for your generous support this morning and to all who, though unable to attend, donated in so many ways to ensure such outstanding success.
“Coupled with the street/house-to-house collection in mid-August, a staggering near £2,100 was raised for ground-breaking research at Bangor, Liverpool and Lancaster universities.
“Thank you for your incredible support. With your help we will stop cancer sooner.”
NWCR chief executive Alastair Richards, who was present and keen to meet with such motivated fundraisers, was very impressed indeed with the impressive level of support and met with the committee, helpers and supporters.
This week’s Machynlleth edition is in shops and online now
