NATIONAL charity Syria Relief has been handed a cheque for £3,000 by members of the Aberystwyth community.

The cheque was handed over before a talk by charity founder Dr Ayman Jundi at the International Politics building at Aberystwyth University’s Penglais campus.

Dr Jundi described the work of the charity inside Syria, where there is chronic water and food insecurity, on top of the absence of health care, schooling and infrastructure.

Dr Ayla Gol, who has written extensively on the region, highlighted some of the complex problems and former MP Mark Williams provided an insight into what the British government could do.
