Full bus services have returned to Criccieth this week, nearly two years after a local company lost its licence.

Gwynedd Council confirmed this week that regular public bus services between Criccieth and Caernarfon returned on Tuesday, 27 August.

Following changes after a decision to revoke the licence of the company that had previously provided bus services along the route, Express Motors, two buses a day had been running between Criccieth and Caernarfon.

But the council has been working to introduce additional services, and are pleased to confirm that Gwynfor Coaches will be offering four additional journeys that will run between Criccieth, through Rhoslan and on to Caernarfon.

Cllr Gareth Griffith, Gwynedd Council Cabinet member for environment who is responsible for transport matters, said: “I’m very pleased that extra services will now be in place between Criccieth and Caernarfon and hope that local residents will make full use of the service.

“Council officers have been working hard to understand the local needs and to discuss with bus companies to try and meet those needs within the resources available to us. We’re pleased that this service, which is very important to the area’s residents, will now increase.”
