PANTPERTHOG village hall hosted a party with a difference on Valentine’s Day as the Machynlleth Quakers celebrated their 20th anniversary with a shared lunch. Tom Brown, one of the founders, said: “In the beginning just five of us met up to follow the Quaker tradition of silent worship. “It offers a welcome opportunity for spiritual exploration which has attracted more and more people over the years. Now there are often 20 or more at our meetings.”

The Machynlleth meeting is open to all and now has people from between the ages of five to 93 years old. Quakers try to live their daily lives in the spirit of their testimonies to equality, peace, truth and simplicity. Over the years Machynlleth Quakers have raised hundreds of pounds for many local and national charities.

Machynlleth Quaker meeting meets every second and fourth Sunday in the month at 10.45am at Pantperthog Hall and every second Wednesday of the month at 10.30am upstairs in the White Lion pub, Machynlleth.
