CEREDIGION AM Elin Jones has welcomed Plaid Cymru’s deal with the Labour Welsh Government for spending priorities in the draft 2016/17 budget which includes £300,000 for a feasibility study into reintroducing the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen railway line.

Additional funding is being made available for arts organisations, including Aberystwyth’s National Library and the Welsh Books Council, with extra money for health services and county councils.

Ms Jones said: “Campaigners will be pleased to hear that we have secured a full feasibility study into reopening the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen rail line, which will see mid and west Wales truly integrated into the travel network of Wales."
