MEMBERS of the Meirionnydd Ramblers got their hands dirty to help restore paths around the Coed y Brenin area.

Their latest path maintenance day was undertaken in a mixture of sunshine and showers in Coed y Brenin.

They worked alongside Pete and Adrian from Gwasanaethau Tir a Choed and under the supervision of Rights of Way officers Liz Haynes and Sam Hollingworth from Gwynedd Council, who also lent a hand.

It was not long before two stretches of path had been cleared of vegetation and six way marker posts erected to point the way.

Gill Caves, footpath secretary for the Meirionnydd Ramblers, said: “It is a case of many hands making light work and we are always happy to give support to Liz and Sam who work so hard on our behalf.

“It is also a bit of a social occasion and it was great to see a couple of the newer members to the group joining in too.

“However, you do not need to be a member of the Ramblers to get involved in these work days and we are happy to welcome anyone who wants to come along and help out.”

The problem of the overgrown path had come to light following a complaint by a member of the public and contractors working on behalf of Natural Resources Wales, who are responsible for the area, had already cleared some fallen trees.
