A GWYNEDD councillor accused of leaving “nasty notes” for people parking irresponsibly has been left red-faced after he was snapped illegally parking on double yellow lines by an eagle-eyed resident in Barmouth.

Eryl Jones-Williams, county councillor for Dyffryn Ardudwy, was caught out last week by local builder Ian Thomas who said he spotted him blocking the road at the foot of Water Street, opposite the town’s Carousal Cafe.

Mr Thomas shared his pictures on social media where they have been seen by hundreds of outraged locals.

On numerous occasions, Cllr Jones-Williams has been spotted around town leaving critical notes on vehicles, lambasting drivers for parking incorrectly.

However, in an unfortunate twist of fate for the councillor, Mr Jones-Williams has been left embarrassed after his own parking blunder was captured on camera.

Commenting on his photos, Mr Thomas said: “Cllr Eryl Jones-Williams puts notes on any car he sees parking illegally around town, but, when it suits him, he parks on double yellows right on a corner, blocking the road.

“He’s left me a nasty note before and I’ve seen him shout at people in the street.

After seeing the incriminating photos, Cllr Jones-Williams said to the Cambrian News: “Fair enough, I was caught, but it was probably the only time, and only for a couple of minutes at the most and that is a fact.

“My car was half-legal, half-illegal and I hold my hands up."
