Madam,

I would like to say that I enjoyed watching the royal wedding on TV. I wish Harry and Meghan all the best.

However, I should also like to be fair to the 60 million people living in Britain and I think that the British people should be allowed a referendum to decide the future of the royal family.

Simply put, should Britain keep its royal family or not? This referendum would allow the people to decide if we want to keep the royal family. A referendum where everyone gets to vote, every man, woman and child. Then that’s real democracy and we will know for certain what the will of the people is.

If we don’t give the British people a vote on the future of the royal family then it’s all imposed upon people.

In this age of referendums (Scotland 2014, Brexit 2016, Ireland marriage 2015, Ireland abortion 2018) I hope the British people are given a vote to decide if they want the royal family.

Yours etc,

Jamie Davies, Lampeter.
