The response from not just the people of Tywyn but the wide cinema-loving community to the appeal to up-date the projector has been absolutely fantastic and shows how much the Magic Lantern is loved.

Since the new owners took over the cinema a few years ago and installed the new digital projector, the Magic Lantern has been transformed into a mini arts centre holding all manner of live show, performances and events. They also show many of the latest Hollywood blockbuster movies on the actual release date with some midnight premieres bringing Hollywood glitz to rural Wales.

In the few weeks since the appeal launch for the pooly projector almost half the £18,000 cost has been raised and although we still have some way to go I’m sure the target will be smashed so the Magic Lantern can continue bringing its fantastic programme of entertainment to this part of rural Wales for many many years to come.
