A BIG-HEARTED Cardigan concrete company boss has given rock-solid support to a fundraising cancer campaign launched by one of his lorry drivers who is fighting the disease.
Luke Harding, 29, was forced to give up his driver’s licence after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
But kindly boss Llew Rees, of Gamallt Concrete, has not only set up an office job for Luke and laid on transport for him to and from work; he has also bedecked “Sasha” – Luke’s old lorry – with the campaign’s fundraising slogans #teamHarding and #togetherstronger.
Any money Sasha makes between now and Christmas will be donated to Withybush Hospital’s Ward 10, which the young lorry driver from Letterston is supporting since his diagnosis.
“Throughout my journey so far my employers have been outstanding,” said Luke, a “fit and healthy lad” before his diagnosis.
”Even when I had to give up my licence they made a position available for me in the office and as for getting to and from Letterston to Cardigan they said they’d pick me up and drop me home.
“Bearing in mind we’re a business only made up of eight people, for this alone, I will be forever grateful.”
But Luke admitted he was left “speechless and amazed” when Mr Rees elected to use his old lorry as part of the campaign.
