THE ROYAL British Legion and a pacifist group have struck a deal over the controversial laying of white poppies at Aberystwyth’s war memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
Red and white poppy wreaths will be laid at the same time this year after an agreement was reached at a meeting held between the Legion and the Aberystwyth Peace and Justice Network.
In past years there has been friction over the network’s decision to lay a white poppy wreath on Remembrance Sunday.
Some British Legion representatives claimed it showed a lack of respect to those from the armed forces who lost their lives.
