CAT owners in Llanidloes are being warned to be vigilant after claims that three cats have died after being poisoned.
The RSPCA has issued an alert to cat owners in Llanidloes following the death of a black and white cat called Patch after a suspected poisoning in the Bro Dulas area.
Patch’s owner has said the death of her beloved pet has left her “devastated” and RSPCA chief inspector Phil Lewis has appealed for information.
Patch died on 13 August after being rushed to the vet after her owner realised that the pet was unwell.
CI Lewis said: “The cat’s owner took her to the vets after she came home clearly unwell and sadly she died of suspected poisoning.
“The cat was only two years old and didn’t wander far from the Bro Dulas area.
“Our thoughts are with the owner and others who may have tragically lost their cats to poisoning recently in the area.”
Patch’s owner, who has not been named, said: “I am just so angry and devastated. Patch was such a quiet and loving cat.”
Deliberately poisoning a cat is a criminal offence, which can be punished by a spell of imprisonment up to six months and a fine of up to £20,000.
