A FUNDRAISER has raised thousands of pounds for two life-saving pieces of equipment in memory of a lost relative.
Emma Roberts, a nurse at Ysbyty Gwynedd, brought the whole town of Porthmadog together at the town’s rugby club last Friday to raise a whopping £4,100 for two defibrillators.
An auction, a raffle and a disco, all hosted by former Llanelli RFC and Wales star Rupert Moon, helped raise the significant sum and Emma will dedicate the new equipment in honour of her grandfather who sadly passed away earlier this year.
The nurse, who lives in Porthmadog, was delighted with the money raised.
She said: “The evening was fab! The turnout was really good and I’m really pleased with how it all went. I’ve spent months preparing for the big event.
“I started this defib journey in memory of my grandad Wyn who sadly passed away in June."
Emma had initially hoped to raise between £2,000 and £3,000 but managed £4,100 after the auction went “a bit crazy”.
