A SCHOOL which caters for pupils with a wide range of additional needs is hosting a fabulously festive concert for all to see.

The young stars of Ysgol Hafod Lon in Penrhyndeudraeth will have a bigger than usual audience for their annual Christmas show this year, as S4C goes backstage in Nadolig Hafod Lon (Tuesday, 18 December).

The school for children with additional needs is a creative lead school, with a special emphasis on music.

The annual concert is one of the highlights of the year with every child involved in the festivities.

This year, secondary school age pupils will have the unique opportunity of performing their annual Christmas show in the stunning surroundings of Portmeirion village.

During this festive programme, viewers will meet concert compere, 12-year-old Guto Meredydd, who enjoys nothing more than being in front of an audience and who is described as “a larger than life character” by his music teacher, Meilyr Wyn.

Mr Wyn said: “He’s taken the limelight in filming the rehearsals. He does a lot in the four songs. He has one song on his own, and he also takes part in the last song, the anthem.”

Mr Wyn has composed three festive songs for the concert, while Rhys Glyn, headteacher of nearby Ysgol Cefn Coch has penned the fourth.
