My husband and I plan on travelling to Wales (from Australia) in May and I am seeking any family members. I have lost track of the few family members in Australia after my mum passed in 1980 and I have never been in touch with anyone in Wales.

My name is Rosemary Jilderts née Piggott. My first married name was Canham.

My mum was Helen Eileen Amos born in 1911. She married Ernest John Piggott in NSW, Australia on 1 October, 1932. Their first child was Colin Amos Piggott who was born on 3 November, 1933. Her mum (my grandmother) was Alice Maria Amos, née Morgan, and she married Frederick James Amos (my grandfather who was born in Tony Pandy in 1880)... in Pontypridd in the first few months of 1902.

Fred sailed to Australia in about 1903 and Alice followed a short time later with their baby son, Ronald, who I think was born in late 1902.

My parents visited Wales in 1969 and they met some cousins, one’s name was Ellen. Ellen, at the time was living in a very old home, two storeys, but she was excited to be moving into a bungalow. I believe Fred’s father was George Amos and his wife’s name was also Ellen.

Some of mum’s cousins lived in Australia in Victoria. I can’t remember their given names but they had a son called Lyndon. I also met “Auntie” Rittie and “Uncle” Roy (surname unknown) in either the late 1950s or early 1960s and they lived in Portland, Victoria. There was also another cousin who was in South Australia. I think his name was Bert and he had the first mechanised dairy farm in the country. He had a horse called Sally which he “sold” to every child who visited, including me. For two shillings I owned a horse of my very own. Or so I thought!

I will be turning 76 in March so, in what may be the last years of my life, I would love to find any family in Wales.

I would be most grateful if you could pass this information on to anyone who may be able to help me.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
