Madam,
To commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War this year, we are arranging an exhibition in Dolgellau of photographs, letters and articles from the period. The intention is to put a local slant to the commemoration which will reflect the effect of the war on the local community.
We are appealing to your readers for the loan of letters or photographs from the period which may be in their possession so that they can be copied and used in the exhibition.
Great care will be taken of any materials which your readers are willing to lend; we fully appreciate their value and importance to families.
The aim is to reflect all aspects of local life at the time, from the soldiers who went to war to the families left behind, the refugees welcomed into the community, the local military hospitals, the military tribunals and the men who objected to military service and the tireless work of supporting the local men in the trenches.
The exhibition will be held in the Free Library in Dolgellau on 9 and 10 November.
If you can help in any way please contact us on the numbers below.
Yours etc,
