Madam,

Many of your readers may not be aware that the Institute for Free Trade has launched plans for a free trade deal which would open the National Health Service to US companies.

The institute has links with both Liam Fox and Donald Trump. Lobbyists for the institute were active at the Conservative Party conference.

This is an extremely worrying development, particularly as the UK government is keen to make trade deals with the US following Brexit.

Our NHS is sadly in need of an overhaul in order that it once again becomes a fair and efficient service that is available to all in times of ill-health.

Selling it off to private companies is not the answer. They are only interested in profit, not people.

We urge everyone who is concerned about the future of the NHS to oppose these plans by writing to their MP and signing the online petition.

Our only chance of defeating these proposals is by massive public opposition.
