TY HAFAN’S shop in Aberystwyth is celebrating the charity’s birthday, 18 years after the hospice first opened its doors to life-limited children and their families.

Shop manager Charlotte Holloway joined the charity five months ago, after year of working for big UK retailers and charities. In a short time, she has transformed the Pier Street shop into a chic boutique with big brands, amazing accessories and fashionable styles for very affordable prices.

“I know Aberystwyth very well – I’ve holidayed down here for the last 10 years. I love it; it’s a fantastic place.

“It’s a fantastic shop with a lovely big window and lots of potential. I thought ‘I’d love to get my teeth into that!’ So when I saw the job advertised I took a punt and went for it.”

In the charity’s 18th year, the shop’s staff have big plans to spread the word about the hospice’s work to the wider community, and is calling on students and anyone with a few hours to spare to help them by becoming a volunteer.

Ann Dallas, who has been a volunteer at the shop for two years, said: “I decided to volunteer to help those children who haven’t got long to live. I’m a mum and if this had happened to any of my children, I would hope somebody would do that for me."
