A NUN has celebrated 50 years of serving her community and God in the hills above Dolgellau.

On Sunday, 4 September sister Ruth Mary of Carmelite Convent was joined by friends, family and well wishers in a Thanksgiving Mass to toast her five decades with the church.

Chief Celebrant Rt Reverend Peter Brignall Bishop of Bangor conducted the service which featured hymns, readings, prayers, communion songs, blessing as well as sister Ruth renewing her vows.
