Madam,

My child has never been offered a music lesson in school in his favourite instrument, has never been offered the subsidised hire of that instrument, and has never been invited to take part in any of the group activities organised by Ceredigion Music Service because they don’t include the instrument he loves.

We’ve had to pay privately for all his lessons, buy all his instruments and he hasn’t had any opportunities with the music service. The service may be great, but only for those it supports, and some council tax payers get nothing from it despite their children being passionate about music.

In the debate about the future of the service, I think there needs to be a bit more balance when discussing what the service does, and doesn’t, do.

Yours etc, Steve Fletcher, Address supplied.
