Madam,
Your readers should be aware that the Welsh Government has confirmed that the current 8.10am T2 departure from Dolgellau, which arrives at 9.30am in Aberystwyth, will be changed to depart at 8.05am and arrive at 9.25am instead.
This is in order for the T2 to connect with the 9.30am T1C coach departure from Aberystwyth to Cardiff. This will allow T2 passengers between Dolgellau and Aberystwyth to use the T1C service to Cardiff.
Unfortunately the Welsh Government has also reneged on a promise made by the minister responsible for transport (Ken Skates) to Ceredigion council in November 2017 and has not carried out a review to consider a new long-distance TrawsCymru service between Aberystwyth and Wrexham.
Ceredigion council has confirmed, on 19 October, that it has had no communications with or from the Welsh Government regarding a new long-distance TrawsCymru service between Aberystwyth and Wrexham.
This is the second time Welsh Government officials have ignored reviewing a TrawsCymru service between Aberystwyth and Wrexham.
Welsh Government officials failed to carry out a review in 2014, when the Bevan Foundation Review of the TrawsCymru network (commissioned by the Welsh Government), recommended that the proposed T3 route should run from Wrexham to Aberystwyth rather than Wrexham to Barmouth.
The minister has written to both the Ceredigion MP (Ben Lake) and to the Ceredigion AM (Elin Jones) regarding the review and regarding the January 2018 T2 timetable changes in Aberystwyth.
Both these letters from the minister contain incorrect and misleading information regarding both the review and the January 2018 T2 timetable changes in Aberystwyth.
Elin Jones has been asked to take up the issue of incorrect and misleading information with the minister.
Yours etc,
John McTighe, Llanrhystud.
