Plans have been submitted to create a 1.5 kilometre boardwalk around an area of woodland on common land near Taliesin.
The proposal, submitted to Ceredigion County Council under planning application A260516, would see a new boardwalk installed around woodland at Taliesin Common Land, near Machynlleth. The boardwalk would be a welcome addition for those who enjoy the natural beauty whilst out on walks.
The boardwalk would be at least 1.2 metres wide, increasing to a maximum width of 1.8 metres in places.
The application states that there would be no change of use to the land as part of the development.
The application was received by the council in July and formally validated on 15 September, with the scheme currently awaiting a decision.
Supporting documents submitted alongside the plans include a habitat regulations assessment, construction environmental management plan and a precautionary method of work, reflecting the environmental sensitivity of the surrounding area.
These documents are intended to set out how the proposed works would be carried out while taking account of nearby habitats and the wider landscape during construction.
The site lies close to Coed Cwm Cletwr Site of Special Scientific Interest, which is recorded around 279 metres from the planning site.
Two Grade II listed structures are also recorded nearby, including Gwarcwm Isaf old farmhouse and an associated outbuilding, although the application site itself is not listed.
The proposal is being considered as a full planning application and is currently expected to be determined under delegated powers rather than by the council’s planning committee.
As part of the planning process, officers will consider the submitted environmental information alongside the details of the proposed development before reaching a decision.
A target decision date of 10 November has been set. The application remains under consideration and no final planning decision has yet been issued.
