Madam,

Further to my previous letter where I suggested Ceredigion council wanted to put the people of Llanbadarn beneath flood water and heavy traffic, I missed an obvious point: They already hold us beneath contempt.

Nothing highlights this better to me than the recent site meeting over the Brynteg development.

We were told that an applicant-funded traffic survey had concluded that a development with 100 parking spaces would generate an extra three vehicles an hour.

We were told there was no expected flood risk, yet Llanbadarn flooded seven days later.

We were told there was no evidence of protected wildlife, yet badger tracks were visible behind them as they spoke.

The committee attended the site on the Friday before Christmas when no students were attending the college opposite and nobody from the Trunk Roads Agency was available to attend.I offered to show the committee the badger sett, but they said they would find it themselves. Yet we watched as they did not actually set foot on the site, but stood on the property next to it - possibly because the field was too wet!The council is closing the school because of dwindling numbers, and there is a glut of housing nearby from recent developments, yet we are told we need more housing.

I have seen the word negligence used in association with this farce. But along with contempt, I think the word culpable may be even more apt. There will be more floods, there will be an accident by the college and the badgers setts will be destroyed. I hope they are prepared for that.

Yours etc
