Madam,

On 23 June we make a choice that will affect generations to come. We are asking your readers to join us in making the right choice: to remain in the European Union.

In the EU, Wales is part of a progressive community and has a voice on the global stage. While EU has a lot to offer us, we also have a lot to offer it. Wales can help the EU to make it more open and effective. We believe in uniting people, not dividing them.

By staying in, we can continue to improve workers’ rights and human rights, protecting the environment, tackling tax evasion, and supporting our communities. Equality and redistribution of wealth are the key principles which guide the EU. As well as funding for developments, such as £2.8m towards Nant Gwrtheyrn Heritage Centre, £3.7m to develop the Wales Coastal Path or £4.2m towards the restoration of Cardigan Castle, communities throughout Wales have benefited from EU-funded projects, and thousands of jobs and businesses are dependent on the EU.

So we encourage you to talk to your families and friends, get involved with your local campaign and, most importantly of all, vote to remain in the EU on 23 June.

Yours etc,

Dafydd Wigley,

Honorary president, Plaid Cymru.
