OVER 230 people took part in a charity football event in Dolgellau on Saturday to remember David Smithies.

Over £3,500 was raised on the day for Sarcoma UK, with hundreds of people coming along to the fun day.

David Smithies, 17, of Dolgellau was killed in a car accident in 2006 after his car hit a tree on the road between Tywyn and Dolgellau.

The fun day started with a seven-a-side football tournament and over 230 players took part on a gorgeous day on the Marian.

The trophy was won by Dolacticos, who beat OFC on penalties.

David’s brother, Greg, thanked everyone who came along and took part.
