Madam,
May I start by saying that my local surgery in Barmouth has a fantastic team and they do everything in their power to help you,
But in the last 10 years at least I must say they are relying on the ambulance service more and more for the slightest cut, sprain or smallest of injuries, telling you to phone an ambulance to take you to Wrexham.
Whether it is a funding issue I am not sure but why call on the ambulance service for such small issues when the nurses at the surgery are trained to deal with such injuries?
My problem is that sending someone with such a minor problem takes that ambulance away from a more serious incident and the cost to the ambulance service must be astronomical.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to give a bit more funding to the surgery so the nurses can deal with such injuries to free up the ambulance service and Wrexham A&E department, so they may be able to cope a bit more with the pressures they are having to deal with?
Yours etc,
Tim Springle, address supplied.
