Madam,

Pwllheli owes many thanks to your reporter Kathryn Cummings for her lively front-page article “Beach to lose Blue Flag” in the Cambrian News of 11 February, which also included a picture of a local councillor.

Apparently the official’s lack-lustre response to the possible loss of our much-coveted Blue Flag went down like a lead balloon in Pwllheli. Like a red rag to a bull it’s causing lively debate on social media, which is peppered with colourful comments and even some unparliamentary language!

Thankfully people of Pwllheli detest negativity.

Seemingly Pwllheli Town Council has too many veterans on board, who should be replaced with fresh faces, so we must keep our eyes peeled for public notices advertising the next town council election. Electors must be allowed a vote.

Our beautiful town needs to be a tourist destination, not just a destination for supermarket delivery lorries.
