A TREE has been planted as a “worthy and lasting memory” of a Llandre man who died in a car crash.

Dai England, who was well known for his involvement with a range of community groups, died in March 2015 aged 67 following a crash near Capel Dewi.

A tree has now been planted in the park in Llandre as a memorial with the backing of Genau’r Glyn Community Council

Friend Wynne Melville Jones, the chairman of Banc Bro which Mr England helped found, said: “Dai was at the heart of our community. His death was a huge blow to both his family and the wider local community and his death has left a huge vacuum.

“He was always willing to do the hard work, to take on responsibility and functions which many of us would just shy away from.

“Dai was a founder member of our pioneering community group Banc Bro and his contribution to retaining and developing a community spirit in the village will have a lasting impact for many years.

“The planting of the tree in the park in the centre of our community is a most worthy and lasting memory to a faithful friend.”
