Tributes have been paid to an Aberystwyth woman who has died after she was hit by a car while sleeping in a tent.

Anna Evans, 46, had been left in a critical condition after she was struck by a car in an incident at the Rhyd y Galen campsite near Caernarfon in the early hours of Monday, 19 August.

It was confirmed that Mrs Evans later died on the evening of Tuesday, 27 August at a hospital in Stoke.

The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, where Mrs Evans worked, paid tribute to her saying: “It is with great sadness we have learned that Anna Evans, a much-respected member of our staff at the Royal Commission, died in hospital following an incident at a campsite near Caernarfon.

“Our deepest sympathies are with Anna’s family.

“Anna will be greatly missed by us all at the Commission, but especially by the young people of the CHYPS (Unloved Heritage: Ceredigion Off-limits) group with whom she achieved so much.”

Aberystwyth Arts Centre, who Mrs Evans had been working on arts projects with, also paid tribute to Mrs Evans.

A spokesperson said: “Our lovely colleague Anna ‘Celf’ Evans passed away earlier this week.

“We are all heartbroken and send all our love and support to Huw, Lowri, Llew and to all her friends and family.

“Anna had recently been working with the Arts Centre to deliver a HEFCW project, Cartref, in the Tregaron area.

“She had a rare understanding of what it is to facilitate community art projects and worked tirelessly to deliver what the participants wanted.

“She knew that the key to working successfully in the community was to listen to what the people wanted and help them achieve their ambitions."
