Tributes have been paid to a 77-year-old woman whose death in a Ceredigion village has sparked a murder probe.
Mavis Long was found dead at her home in Pennant, near Llannon, last Friday.
Mrs Long’s family paid tribute to her saying: “This was an extremely tragic incident in which we have lost Mavis, who was loved and will be sorely missed.
"We would like to thank the local community for all their kind words and support at this difficult time. We would now like time to grieve and would ask for privacy in which to do so.”
This week police confirmed that an 80-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He has been released on bail pending a police investigation which is continuing.
Formal identification on Mrs Long has been completed and an inquest was opened and adjourned to date to be fixed this morning by Ceredigion’s coroner.
