ON Friday, Andrew Reeves, store manager at Tuffins, Machynlleth, and company co-ordinator Jacqui Self presented a cheque for £150 to the Cemmaes Road Defibrillator Fund to Gerallt Rhys-Jones and a cheque for £300 to Machynlleth Primary School to help them buy Welsh books.

The money was raised by the store through the Making a Difference Locally scheme run by NISA.

In a bid to raise even more money for the school, staff at the Tuffins Store, which is part of the Mid-Counties Co-op, held a Bring and Bake Day to celebrate 10 years in business. The sum raised was £160, so the total amount given to the PTA and the pupils was £460.

The store also raised £100 in this way for the Loving Care Home to help buy new armchairs.

Andrew Reeves said: “They are all local good causes we have got behind and supported through Tuffins at Machynlleth, and this is just a part of our next 12-month plan to help and support local communities where we can.”

If your group is fund-raising for a specific goal, go to the store and talk to Andy.
