TWO wards at Bronglais Hospital have been closed following a Novovirus outbreak.
Specialists in infection prevention are asking people not to visit patients in Bronglais Hospital as a result of the virus outbreak.
Several patients are currently experiencing symptoms associated with Norovirus and the hospital’s Ceredig and Meurig Wards have temporarily been closed as a result.
The hospital is also experiencing an increase in patients presenting to Accident & Emergency department.
Infection control measures are in place to reduce the risk of infection and visitors are requested not to visit patients at this time.
Sharon Daniel, assistant director of nursing (infection, prevention & control) in Hywel Dda University Health Board said: "Illnesses such as diarrhoea and vomiting can pass from one person to another very easily.
“Viruses can be serious for sick and vulnerable patients and we are asking for your support to protect patients and healthcare workers.
“Symptoms of Norovirus include nausea (feeling queasy), diarrhoea and vomiting. If you are experiencing these symptoms it is important to wash and dry your hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before you handle food to prevent it being passed on to others.”
