Rotary Club

THE CLUB was privileged to host a presentation by Annie Lake, a talented local artist, entitled art through the ages, a personal view on Thursday, 7 April, at their weekly meeting.Annie described her view of art through the ages starting with prehistoric cave paintings through aboriginal art to the more modern artists of today.Throughout art history the same theme occurs with the artists leaving a small part of their soul by either a handprint on a wall or representations of the human form common in aboriginal cave painting. This desire of the artist to leave part of themselves for posterity was graphically illustrated by examples of painting through history. Annie then demonstrated how her own work had developed over the years by showing sev-eral interesting examples of her early paintings to her more recent work.As is the custom with guest speakers at club meetings, president Stephanie Purcell presented Annie with a cheque for £100 that Annie will kindly donate to Ty Gobaith Children’s Hos-pice.Jumble saleANGEL Lights are hosting a jumble sale this weekend. On Saturday (16 April), the group will be in Tywyn Scout Hut with an assortment of goods for sale between 10am and 4pm.All profits will go to a charity, which is yet to be confirmed.
