A GUITARIST from Tywyn has completed a whistle-stop tour of Europe in an exciting new rock band.
Luke Genders, who attended Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn, has been playing guitar with his band Wild Lies in festivals and concerts across the UK, the Netherlands and Germany.
Luke, who is currently back in Tywyn before his band’s debut album Prison of Sins is released next month, learnt to play his guitar through music lessons at his old comprehensive school before going on to study guitar at the academy of contemporary music in Guildford Surrey.
The guitarist then went on to perform at Download in 2009, Bloodstock in 2010 and Sonisphere in 2011 before joining Hanover-based rock band Sondura for two years.
He joined his latest band Wild Lies, based in London, back in April with the outfit well thought of in rock circles.
“We’ve defined our sound as a group by trying to marry the old and the new,” Wild Lies frontman Matt Polley explained on their website.
“It’s heavy, current, modern guitar music with technical musicianship, but we also want to keep that classic style with the melodic vocals, big choruses and big melodies. I don’t want to be a niche band.”
Wild Lies are currently planning a UK tour following the release of their debut album.See this week's north editions for the full story, in shops and online on Thursday
