Uneven and slippery pavements in Machynlleth are “dangerous”, the town’s mayor has warned.
Cllr Monica Atkins said she had been approached by town residents concerned that the condition of the pavements could lead to falls.
At a recent town council meeting, the mayor said leaves were not being cleared by Powys County Council, potentially posing a slip hazard in wet weather.
She said: “I’ve had a lot of complaints from people that when leaves are on the pavement, the pavements are very slippery.
“The pavements are also very uneven.”
Cllr Tony Jones said the issue of uneven pavements could be being caused by roots from trees owned by the town council, which made it difficult for something to be done.
Cllr Glenda Jenkins urged people to report issues, saying: “It would help if we could pinpoint the problems and if you’ve had complaints then you know where they are.”
“Writing to Powys Council again is the least we can do to help people,” she added.
